The Sunflowers were waiting for us; expecting us. We go every year, never used to. It’s become an unofficial mile marker of my ALS.

It looked like we were driving into the dark and rain. Dang it! But they’re waiting, we can’t let them down without a fight! We’ve come this far! Can’t turn around! It looked like a tornado was pummeling the tops of the trees on Hwy 94!  Can’t turn around! The gravel parking lots we passed were blowing away, some of it in swirly patterns. We can’t turn around now, almost there, they’re waiting! We made it, must be quick! They were beautiful! And I think they were happy to see us.
