If it wasn’t for my dang saliva glands, life with ALS would be so much easier! I can’t swallow, so we use drying meds to reduce the volume. This comes at the cost of making it thick.
The cough assist machine is difficult, more for others than myself, but has become such a necessity. It has become the difficulty and skilled activity that life gets planned around. My neck has to be held in the proper position, or else the cycles can be rather ineffective.
